- The Tamil Nadu government issued an order to establish an Advisory Committee for the Welfare of Sri Lankan Tamils.
- The 20-member advisory council is led by Tamil Nadu Minority Welfare and Overseas Tamil Welfare minister Gingee KS Mastan.
- Manuraj Shanmugasundaram is the vice-chairman of the advisory committee.
- According to the government, this Advisory Committee would look into the infrastructure in the camps, the upgrading of basic facilities, the classification of educational and social security support, nationality, and deportation to Sri Lanka.
