The African Union became a full member of the G-20 on September 9, 2023.
This will strengthen the G-20 and also strengthen the voice of the Global South.
The AU is an influential organisation comprising 55 member states that make up the countries of the African continent.
Apart from this, India has also invited Bangladesh, Comoros, Egypt, Mauritius, Netherlands, Nigeria, Oman, Singapore, Spain and the UAE as part of the ‘Guest Countries’ at the G-20 summit.
The International organizations such as the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure, the Financial Stability Board, Asian Development Bank, IMF, ILO, International Solar Alliance, the OECD, the UN, the World Bank, the African Union, the WHO, the WTO and ASEAN are also invited as guests.
