- The Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare organized a National Conference under the title of “Agriculture 2022 – Doubling Farmers’ Income” at National Agriculture Science Complex (NASC), New Delhi.
- The Conference is being organized with a view to discuss challenges faced by the agriculture sector and chalk out a roadmap to achieve the government's target to double farmers' income by 2022.
- The conference would focus on seven broad themes centred around farmer’s welfare and the recommendations from this conference would also be subsumed in the policy (e-NAM).
- Seven Broad Themes:
- Raising crop production
- Reducing cultivation costs
- Post-harvest losses
- Reform of agriculture markets
- Adding value to farm produce via food processing
- Risk mitigation through crop insurance; disaster relief
- Promotion of allied activities such as horticulture and animal husbandry
