The Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare organized a National Conference under the title of “Agriculture 2022 – Doubling Farmers’ Income” at National Agriculture Science Complex (NASC), New Delhi.
The Conference is being organized with a view to discuss challenges faced by the agriculture sector and chalk out a roadmap to achieve the government's target to double farmers' income by 2022.
The conference would focus on seven broad themes centred around farmer’s welfare and the recommendations from this conference would also be subsumed in the policy (e-NAM).
Seven Broad Themes:
Raising crop production
Reducing cultivation costs
Post-harvest losses
Reform of agriculture markets
Adding value to farm produce via food processing
Risk mitigation through crop insurance; disaster relief
Promotion of allied activities such as horticulture and animal husbandry
