- Recently a non-native alligator car fish species was discovered in one of the beautiful lakes of Kashmir.
- Alligator Gar Fish is one of the biggest freshwater fish in North America and the largest species in the ‘gar’ family.
- This predator fish has an alligator-like head and razor-sharp teeth.
- It can grow up to 8 feet long and weigh more than 300 pounds.
- It was also found in some parts of India like Bhopal, Kerala and from waterbodies of Maharashtra and Kolkata.
- IUCN status for this is the least concerned.
