- The Registered construction workers in the city will be able to avail free food at Amma Unavagam as a new scheme will be introduced through the amendment of Tamil Nadu Manual Workers (Construction Workers) Welfare Scheme -1994.
- The municipal administration and water supply department will be passing a government order for it based on a proposal from the Greater Chennai Corporation.
- The scheme will allow workers to avail food free of cost and their monthly bills, to be maintained by the canteens.
- It will be settled by the Tamil Nadu Construction Workers Welfare Board (TNCWWB).
