This scheme is implemented by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
Government of India extended the deadline of its flagship scheme AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) by two more years to 2022.
About AMRUT
The mission was launched in 2015 by PM Modi for urban renewal by March 2020.
The programme was preceded by Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).
The Mission will focus on the Thrust Areas like Water Supply, Seweragemanagement, etc.
The Mission covers 500 cities that includes all cities and towns with a population of over one lakh with notified Municipalities.
