The Andhra Pradesh assembly passed the Bill to establish three capitals.
The state government plans to build three capitals--executive capital in Visakhapatnam, legislative capital in Amaravati and judicial capital in Kurnool.
In 2014, when Telangana was carved out of Andhra Pradesh, it was decided that Hyderabad would remain the joint capital of the two states (for a maximum of 10 years).
During his chief ministership, Chandrababu Naidu pitched for making Amaravati the state capital.

Dehradun officially is Uttarakhand's "temporary capital" since November 2000.
Gairsain is being considered as the future capital of Uttarakhand.
One assembly session is held in Gairsain every year.
Maharashtra has two capitals – Mumbai and Nagpur (which holds the winter session of the state assembly).
Himachal Pradesh has capitals at Shimla and Dharamshala (winter).
The former state of Jammu & Kashmir had Srinagar and Jammu (winter) as capitals.
