Army to induct women into military police

  • The government has decided to recruit women jawans into the Army’s Corps of Military Police (CMP) for investigating gender specific crimes. The proposal is being finalised for the induction of about 800 women with a yearly intake of 52.
However, induction of women into the Army’s Combat Arms could still be a long way as the Army’s Corps of Military Police is only a support arm. The Army has four such combat arms — infantry, mechanised infantry, armour and artillery
