Assam-Arunachal Pradesh Border Disputes Pact

  • Assam and Arunachal Pradesh signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to end a 51-year-old inter-state border dispute.
  • The dispute in question is over 123 villages that stretch across 12 districts of Arunachal Pradesh and eight of Assam.
  • This dispute was going on since 1972 has been resolved permanently.
  • Under the agreement, both the states have agreed that this agreement will be final with regards to these 123 disputed villages.
  • Further, neither of the states will make any new claim related to any area or village in future.
  • Assam and Arunachal Pradesh share an 804.1 km long boundary.
