- Assam and Arunachal Pradesh signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to end a 51-year-old inter-state border dispute.
- The dispute in question is over 123 villages that stretch across 12 districts of Arunachal Pradesh and eight of Assam.
- This dispute was going on since 1972 has been resolved permanently.
- Under the agreement, both the states have agreed that this agreement will be final with regards to these 123 disputed villages.
- Further, neither of the states will make any new claim related to any area or village in future.
- Assam and Arunachal Pradesh share an 804.1 km long boundary.
