- Assets under management of the National Pension System (NPS) and the Atal Pension Yojana (APY) have crossed the milestone of Rs 10 lakh crore.
- In total, the number of subscribers has reached 66.2 million (6.62 crore).
- The total funds from the National Pension System (NPS) Private, Atal Pension Yojana (APY), and National Pension System (NPS) Lite stand at Rs 47,663 crore, Rs 30,051 crore and Rs 5,157 crore respectively.
- The National Pension System was introduced for all central government employees, except those in the armed forces who joined on or after January 1, 2004.
- There are many states and union territories that have adopted the NPS.
- As of May 1, 2009, NPS has been made accessible to all Indian citizens voluntarily.
- On June 1, 2015, the Atal Pension Yojana was launched.
- It has significantly boosted the reach and effectiveness of social security schemes.
- Currently, it is open only to non-taxpayers.
