- Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi is set to be appointed the 14th Attorney General for India after KK Venugopal vacates the post.
- This will be Rohatgi’s second time as AG.
- His first term was between June 2014 and June 2017.
- The Attorney General (AG) of India is a part of the Union Executive.
- AG is the highest law officer in the country.
- Article 76 of the Constitution provides for the office of AG of India.
- Solicitor General of India and Additional Solicitor General of India assist the AG in fulfilment of the official responsibilities.
