- The National Health Authority (NHA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the state government of Telangana to implement the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) with immediate effect.
- Telangana has integrated the Ayushman Bharat scheme with its state scheme ‘Aarogyasri’.
- The new name for the converged scheme is Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY Aarogyasri.
- With Telangana now implementing the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, the programme now includes a total of 33 states and union territories.
- Under the scheme, the eligible beneficiaries will be entitled to avail free healthcare coverage of up to Rs 5 lakhs per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation.
- Still West Bengal is not implementing this scheme as it has its own scheme.
