- V. S. Negi, Department of Clinical Immunology at Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (Jipmer), has been conferred the prestigious Dr. B C. Roy Award for 2017.
- He was given the award “to recognize the best talents in encouraging the development of specialties in different branches of medicine.’’
B.C Roy Award
- This award was instituted by the Medical Council of India (MCI) in 1962 in memory of renowned physician and former West Bengal Chief Minister Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy
- The BC Roy Award is the highest recognition for medical practitioners in India.
- The award is conferred annually 6 categories viz. statesmanship of the Highest Order in India, eminent medical person, medical man-cum-statesman, an eminent person in philosophy, an eminent person in arts and the eminent person in Science.
