- Mattel, Barbie toy manufacturing company released a new range of barbies to honour female role models globally on their 60th
- India also got put on the map with this model, with Dipa Karmakar being India's representation on it.
- Karmakar has won over 77 medals, including 67 gold ones at state, national and international levels.
- She was awarded with Arjuna Award in 2015, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in 2016, Padma Shri award in 2017.
- She also became India's first gymnast to win a gold medal at an international event - the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Challenge Cup at Mersin, Turkey.
