- The Bihar Government recently announced ban on felling of trees in different cities of Bihar.
- The order been passed under Forest Conservation Act (FCA),1980 and applies only for state properties.
- It cited increasing pollution as well as a fatal heatwave in the state as reason for the ban.
- The current heatwave in Bihar is also considered a reason for the death of more than 150 children by acute encephalitis syndrome.
- Bihar’s capital Patna is the 7th most polluted city in the world.
