Bodhi Parva: BIMSTEC Festival of Buddhist Heritage

India hosted "Bodhi Parva: BIMSTEC Festival of Buddhist Heritage" at the India Gandhi National Centre for Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi.
It involves exhibition of international and Indian Buddhist art and architecture, discourses by eminent scholars of Buddhism, screening of film on Buddhism, dance and music performances etc.
The festival was arranged as part of celebrations of 20th Anniversary of BIMSTEC and it will help in building an awareness of BIMSTEC's rich and common heritage.
BIMSTEC (the Bay of Bengal Initiative for multi-sectoral technical and economic cooperation), comprises of India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bhutan.
BIMSTEC
Bay of Bengal Initiatives for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) is the sub-regional grouping comprising seven countries of South Asia and South East Asia. These are: Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Bhutan and Nepal.
On 6 June 1997, a new sub-regional grouping was formed in Bangkok and given the name BIST-EC (Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, and Thailand Economic Cooperation). Later Myanmar and Nepal joined this group, after which the organisation was renamed as BIMSTEC
Nepal is the current Chair of the BIMSTEC. Its Secretariat is located in Dhaka.
