  • Scientists have discovered fossils of one of the world’s oldest bird species in New Zealand.
  • They had lived about 62 million years ago, soon after the dinosaurs died.
  • The newly-discovered seabird fossil is named as Protodontopteryx ruthae.
  • Earlier, bony toothed birds were thought to originate from Northern Hemisphere.
  • It is now proven wrong because of this fossil from New Zealand.
