- They had lived about 62 million years ago, soon after the dinosaurs died.
- The newly-discovered seabird fossil is named as Protodontopteryx ruthae.
- Earlier, bony toothed birds were thought to originate from Northern Hemisphere.
- It is now proven wrong because of this fossil from New Zealand.
