- It is the country’s border guarding organization on its border with Bangladesh and Pakistan.
- Border Security Force is one of the five Central Armed Police Forces of India.
- It was raised in the wake of the 1965 Indo-Pak war on December 1, 1965, to ensure the security of borders in India
- BSF has been termed as the First Line of Defence of Indian Territories.
