- The 15th BRICS summit was hosted by South Africa in Johannesburg.
- The theme for the Summit is “BRICS and Africa: Partnership for Mutually Accelerated Growth, Sustainable Development and Inclusive Multilateralism”.
- This summit marked by expanding its membership from five to eleven countries.
- Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Ethiopia, and Argentina joined to the BRICS in the event.
- Their Full membership will take effect on January 1, 2024.
