- He will remain as caretaker Chief Minister of the state while his party decides on his replacement.
- BS Yeddyurappa became the first Chief Minister in the south of the BJP.
- He had served as the chief minister of Karnataka for four terms.
- He was the only chief minister to do so in Karnataka history.
