  • A star that exploded in the supernova remnant Cassiopeia A (Cas A) has been captured by NASA's James Webb Space Telescope.
  • Cas A is one of the most thoroughly researched supernova remnants across the entire universe.
  • The whole of Cas A spans10 light-years, or 60 trillion miles.
  • The Cas A supernova remnant is located 11,000 light-years away in the constellation Cassiopeia.
  • It is estimated to have exploded about 340 years ago from our point of view.
