Central Advisory Board on Archaeology meet

  • The Archaeological Survey of India informed that the Central Advisory Board of Archaeology is expected to meet, nearly after eight years.
  • It is chaired by the Union Minister of Tourism and Culture Kishan Reddy.
  • It was reconstituted for a period of three years, along with nominated non-government experts and five MP.
  • The CABA Standing Committee had been meeting once a year to give recommendations to the ASI on excavation proposals.
  • ASI was founded in 1861 by Alexander Cunningham.
  • He also became its first Director-General.
