- The Bill was introduced by the Labour Welfare and Skill Development Minister CV Ganesan to amend the Tamil Nadu Shops and Establishments Act, 1947.
- It was started with Kerala.
- A State labour advisory board meeting unanimously approved the need to provide seating facilities for employees on September 4, 2019.
