Chairman of panel of external auditors of UN - Girish Chandra Murmu

- The Comptroller and Auditor General of India, Girish Chandra Murmu, has been appointed as chairman of the Panel of External Auditors of the United Nations for the second time in a row for 2021.
- The UN General Assembly in 1959 established the Panel of External Auditors.
Note:
- Girish Chandra Murmu was the first Lt Governor of Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir in October 2019 after its formation under the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019.
- Presently, he is the External Auditor of the United Nations’ Specialized Agencies like
- World Health Organization (WHO) (2020- 2023),
- Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) (2020- 2025) and
- Inter-Parliamentary Union (2020-2022).
