- The Chennai Corporation Mayor Priya Rajan presented the civic body's budget after a gap of six years.
- Some of the important announcements made by the Mayor include:
- Students will be provided breakfast in schools run by the civic body
- CCTV cameras will be set up in schools
- Efforts will be taken to improve English speaking in schools
- Girl students will be given sanitary napkins under Nirbhaya Funds
- 70 Chennai Corporation high and higher secondary schools will be provided with an internet connection.
