- Prime Minister inaugurated the 44th Chess Olympiad in Chennai.
- This is the first time the chess Olympiad is being held in India.
- It has the highest number of countries, number of teams, and number of female chess players participation.
- Originally this Olympiad was scheduled is Russia.
- But due to Russia- Ukraine conflict it was cancelled.
- Out of the 73 Indian grandmasters, 26 were from Tamil Nadu.
- Olympiad’s veshti-clad mascot Thambi was a symbol of brotherhood.
