- Defence Secretary Sanjay Mitra has been given additional charge as Chief of the Defence Research and Development Organisation for a period of three months with effect from May 29, 2018.
- He will take over from current chief Dr. S. Christopher whose term ended recently.
- Christopher was given one year's extension beyond the prescribed age last year.
- Christopher took over as the head of DRDO in May 2015 for a two-year term.
