- To make local movies for children, Nehru founded the Children’s Film Society India in 1955.
- After the death of Pandit Nehru in 1964, it was decided that his birthday be celebrated as Children's Day.
- World Children’s Day is celebrated on November 20 and International Children’s Day is observed on June 1.
