- Antonio Guterres, UN Secretary-General, announced this project in association with the World Meteorological Organisation based in Geneva.
- The project has been announced to put every individual on the planet in early weather-warning systems range within the next five years as natural disasters have grown frequent and more powerful due to the effects of climate change.
- One-third of the Earth’s population, especially in the countries which are least-developed are not covered by early warning systems.
- 60 percent of people who are residing in Africa lack coverage.
