- 96 years old, Kerala’s oldest student Karthyayani Amma was appointed as a Commonwealth of Learning Goodwill ambassador.
- Despite not going to school in the past, she scored 98 out of 100 in ‘Aksharalaksham’ literacy programme and received a merit certificate from Kerala Chief Minister in October last year.
- The Commonwealth of Learning is an intergovernmental organisation of The Commonwealth headquartered in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
- It aims to promote distance education and open learning among its 53-member nations.
