- Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Suresh Prabhu, chaired the third meeting of the Council for Trade Development and Promotion held in New Delhi.
- Its objective is to ensure a continuous dialogue with the governments of states and Union Territories on measures for
- Creating an international trade enabling environment in the states
- To create a framework for making the states active partners in boosting India’s exports.
- Members of the council are trade/commerce ministers of states and Union Territories, besides 14 secretaries of the central government, including commerce, revenue, shipping, civil aviation, agriculture, food processing and economic affairs.
- The Council for Trade Development and Promotion was constituted in 2015 under the chairpersonship of the Union Minister for Commerce and Industry,in pursuance to the provisions of Foreign Trade Policy statement 2015-20.
