Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) will complete the commissioning of its second generation (2G) ethanol bio-refinery at Baulsingha village in Bargarh district by 2020.
This is the first bio fuel plant in the country where ethanol will be produced from rice straw.
Ethanol will be blended with petrol and used as fuel.
As per the National Biofuel Policy-2018, India has set the target of 20% ethanol blending to petrol by 2030.
Currently only 3% or 4% Ethanol blending in petrol is available due to unavailability of the biofuel.
