- It is developed by Hyderabad based Bharat Biotech.
- It was developed in association with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the National Institute of Virology (NIV).
- The SARS-CoV-2 strain was isolated in the National Institute of Virology and was transferred to Bharat Biotech.
- The DGCI comes under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
