- Delhi- NCR region will have crackers with a unique logo and QR code on the boxes for Deepavali 2019.
- unique logo on the boxes to help people identify whether they are buying low-emission green crackers or the regular highly-polluting ones.
- QR codes will have production and emission testing details
- These green crackers will have both sound and light.
- Supreme Court had earlier instructed that only green crackers should be burst in Delhi-NCR region.
Green crackers
- According to the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research following crackers are “green crackers”
- firecrackers that cause 30-35% lower emissions of particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5)
- 35-40% lower sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxide emissions
- They have low content of aluminium and use of barium salts and ash as a drying agent is banned in these crackers.
