- This day pay tribute to the bravery and selfless sacrifice of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) soldiers.
- It marks the anniversary of a remarkable battle that took place in 1965 between the CRPF and a Pakistan Brigade.
- A small group of the CRPF got into combat with enemies and killed around 34 Pakistani soldiers.
- CRPF came into existence as the Crown Representative's Police on 27 July 1939.
- After Indian Independence, it became the Central Reserve Police Force on the enactment of the CRPF Act on 28 December 1949.
