Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, has approved proposal to provide monetary assistance through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to students under Mid-Day meal scheme.
The Central government will provide additional funds of Rs 1200 crore to State Governments and UT Administrations to implement the monetary assistance programme.
It will be a one-time special welfare measure to benefit children studying in class I to VIII across 11.20 lakh Government and Government aided schools in India.
