- He was born Neelakanta Pillai in 1712.
- He took the name "Lazarus" after embracing Christianity in 1745.
- "Lazarus" or "Devasahayam" in the local language, meaning "God is my help"
- He will be canonised on May 5 of 2022 by Pope Francis at the St Peter's Basilica in Vatican.
