DRDO successfully tests air-to-air missile Astra

- India’s indigenously developed Astra Missile was successfully field tested. The missile was jointly developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Air Force(IAF).
- ‘Astra’ is Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air Missile (BVRAAM).
- The missile weighs 154 kilograms and can destroy targets ranging from 20 km to 110 km.
- 'Astra' is planned to be inducted in Indian Air Force by 2018.
