- One of the most significant changes brought about by the amendments is the relaxation of the previously stringent requirements for obtaining a Remote Pilot Certificate.
- Previously, a passport was mandatory to apply for this crucial document.
- It is creating obstacles for numerous aspiring drone pilots, particularly in rural areas and the agricultural sector.
- Individuals can now use government-issued proof of identity and proof of address, such as Voter ID, Ration Card, or Driving License, to apply for the certificate.
- Only individuals holding a valid Remote Pilot Certificate registered on the digital sky platform are authorized to operate unmanned aircraft systems in India.
- However, for non-commercial drone use, no Remote Pilot Certificate is required for drones weighing up to 2 kg.
