E-100 Ethanol Project

- PM Modi launched the E-100 Project.
- It was launched with the aim of setting up a network for production and distribution of ethanol in India.
- Prime Minister also launched ‘Report of the Expert Committee on Road Map for ethanol blending in India 2020-2025’.
- It was released in line with the theme of World Environment Day - “promotion of biofuels for a better environment”.
Note
- PM Modi also launched a Pilot Project of E 100 ethanol dispensing stations at three locations in Pune.
- The government has reset the target to achieve 20 per cent ethanol blending in petrol by 2025.
- Earlier this target was to be met by 2030.
