Early Warning System at Guwahati

- Flood Early Warning System (FEWS) was launched by The Energy and Resources Institute’s (TERI) in Assam.
- It is a Fully automated web-based tool and it will alert the local authorities to predict flash floods and heavy rainfall in Guwahati.
- Guwahati will be the third city after Chennai and Mumbai to have a Flood Warning system.
- The Union Ministry of Earth Science has plans to set up similar systems in Kolkata and Bengaluru by 2021.
