- The Economic Survey was tabled in Parliament by finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on July 04.
- The Survey was authored by the Chief Economic Advisor Krishnamurthy V. Subramanian.
- As per the survey, India now stands at 4th in wind power, 5th in solar power and 5th in renewable power installed capacity.
Key Agenda
- Sustained real GDP growth rate of 8% needed for a $5 trillion economy by 2024-25.
- It aims for the following targets
- Moving From ‘Beti Baco Beti Padhao’ to ‘BADLAV’ (Beti Aapki Dhan Lakshmi Aur Vijay Lakshmi).
- Moving From ‘Swachh Bharat’ to ‘Sundar Bharat’.
- Moving From ‘Give it up” for the LPG subsidy to ‘Think about the Subsidy’.
- Moving From ‘Tax evasion’ to ‘Tax compliance’.
