The upcoming assembly elections in five states will witness the roll-out of the Election Commission's latest technology initiative.
It will enhance transparency in monitoring use of money power and poll inducements as well as action taken by central and state enforcement agencies against such offences.
The technology is called Election Seizure Management System (ESMS).
This is a platform where all the central and state enforcement agencies will be onboarded.
It will require them to upload details of every recorded movement and seizure of illicit cash, liquor, drugs etc.
This will also, enabling real-time updates from the field as well as coordination and intelligence-sharing between such agencies.
The rise in seizures between the latest poll and election before that was 2,184% in Tripura, 1,150% in Nagaland, 6,627% in Meghalaya, 2,862% in Gujarat, 533% in HP and 200% in Uttarakhand.
