  • Maldivian President Abdulla Yameen has declared a 15-day state of emergency in the island nation after he refused to comply with the supreme court’s order to release former President Yameen and 9 important persons.
  • Earlier, Nasheed and others was sentenced in 2015 to 13 years in prison for charges of terrorism, and he has remained in exile all these years to avoid arrest.
  • Supreme Court had also restored 12 MPs who had defected from Mr. Yameen's party, the majority is effectively with the opposition. Concerning this yameen has closed all businesses in the Parliament.
  • The yameen government also arrested two judges od supreme court and Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.
  • Maumoon Abdul Gayoom is the half-brother of the current President and ruled the country for 30 years until 2008.
  • In 2008 only democratic has made it place in Maldives.
  • Muhammed Nasheed is the First elected president of democratic Maldives.
  • This is the second time Yameen has declared a state of emergency.
  • Earlier in 2015 emergency was proclaimed.
