- Iceland has become the first country in the world to legalise equal pay for both gender at work place.
- The legislation, which took effect on January 1 2018 provides that all companies, both private and public, need to prove that their wage practices and don't discriminate against women.
- The only difference in wages that may exist, should be on the basis of education, output, and skills.
- According to World Economic Forum’s global gender equality index Including 2017’s Edition, Island bagged the first place for the ninth consecutive year.
