Iceland has become the first country in the world to legalise equal pay for both gender at work place.
The legislation, which took effect on January 1 2018 provides that all companies, both private and public, need to prove that their wage practices and don't discriminate against women.
The only difference in wages that may exist, should be on the basis of education, output, and skills.
According to World Economic Forum’s global gender equality index Including 2017’s Edition, Island bagged the first place for the ninth consecutive year.
