- The Ethiopian Remote Sensing Satellite-1 or ETRSS-1, was sent into space by a Chinese Long March 4B carrier rocket.
- ETRSS-1 is Africa’s 41st satellite in space and the third East African satellite.
- Ethiopia is now the 11th African nation to launch a satellite.
