  • Maharashtra government has unveiled the “Maharashtra Electric Vehicle (EV) policy, 2021”.
  • All EVs sold in State will be exempted from road tax and registration charges.
  • It also seeks to ensure that by 2025 EVs comprise at least 10% of new vehicles registered and 25% electrification of public transport in six urban centres namely, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Amravati, Aurangabad and Nashik.
  • It will also set up 2,500 charging stations in urban areas and highways.
