  • NITI Aayog in partnership with the Institute of Competitiveness released the Export Preparedness Index (EPI) report 2020.
  • EPI is the first report to examine export preparedness and performance of Indian states.
  • The index ranked states on four key parameters – policy; business ecosystem; export ecosystem; export performance.

Highlights of the report:

  • At present, 70 per cent of India’s export has been dominated by five states – Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.

Top 3 landlocked states,

Rajasthan followed by Telangana and Haryana.

Top 3 Himalayan states,

Uttarakhand followed by Tripura and Himachal Pradesh.

Delhi followed by Goa and Chandigarh.

Top 3 on policy parameters

Maharashtra followed by Gujarat and Jharkhand.

Gujarat followed by Delhi and Tamil Nadu.

Maharashtra followed by Odisha and Rajasthan.

On the export performance parameter

Mizoram followed by Gujarat and Maharashtra.
