FATF – Pakistan Blocked

  • Pakistan has been placed on the lowest rung or “blacklist” of the Financial Action Task Force’s Asia Pacific Group (APG).
  • It has been placed in the list for non-compliance and non-enforcement of safeguards against terror financing and money laundering.
  • The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) had already ‘grey listed’ Pakistan for failing to curb anti-terror financing.
  • FATF has no investigative authority.
  • The FATF blacklist or OECD blacklist has been issued by the Financial Action Task Force since 2000.
  • Main objective of FATF is to fight against money laundering, terrorist financing and other related threats to the security and integrity of the international financial system.
