Pakistan has been placed on the lowest rung or “blacklist” of the Financial Action Task Force’s Asia Pacific Group (APG).
It has been placed in the list for non-compliance and non-enforcement of safeguards against terror financing and money laundering.
The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) had already ‘grey listed’ Pakistan for failing to curb anti-terror financing.
FATF has no investigative authority.
The FATF blacklist or OECD blacklist has been issued by the Financial Action Task Force since 2000.
Main objective of FATF is to fight against money laundering, terrorist financing and other related threats to the security and integrity of the international financial system.
