First epigraphical reference to Krishnadeva raya’s death

  • Officials from Archaeological Survey of India discovered the first epigraphical reference to the death of Krishnadevaraya Nayaka.
  • He was the third ruler from Tuluva dynasty.
  • He was the emperor of Vijayanagara empire during 1509-1529.
  • The inscription was found near Gopalkrishna temple at Honnenahalli of Tumkur district, Karnataka.
  • As per this inscription, Krishnadevaraya died on October 17, 1529.
  • He was one of the greatest emperors of India ruled from the South.
